Bellarine Estate Winery is easily accessed from the Portarlington Highway and with a touch of rustic charm presenting itself on arrival it is evident with the constant opening and closing of the front door that this place is an attractive and fun place to visit.
One of my favourite people that pours wine on the Bellarine is the lovely Ebony. Her energy and enthusiasm are welcoming and she is always ready to share her passion and knowledge. With 12 hectares under vine and the ability source fruit from other wineries throughout the region, the Bellarine Estate Winery has a neat operation going on.
Sparkling, Shiraz, Merlot and the usual suspects of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir are the varieties best expressed here. Merlot is commonly not found throughout the Bellarine, but unique terroir allows them to produce an excellent example. For those of you that love a Shiraz then I would highly recommend you trying the Two Wives Shiraz – delicious!
Two tiers of wine are available here; the entry-level Portarlington Ridge starting at $18 is a good introduction to what Bellarine Estate can do. The tier up is the Bellarine Estate wines, be sure to try these, starting at $28 for the whites and $28 for the Reds up to $38.
French Bistro inspired meals are served up and the food here always receives plenty of praise!
This favourite spot for locals and tourists means that incorporating Bellarine Estate into your tour should be a certainty. However, I tend to say that about all of them.
