5 Star Rated Winery – Halliday
Let me just start out by saying I am not one to play favourites, but Leura Park is a great winery to visit. The team here are always welcoming, and they have a sense of pride about the wine that they are pouring and they just want you to experience it all.
Lunch is a favourite spot for locals, and the menu options are seasonal and not too pricey at all, Stone base pizza for $15, is very reasonable.
Now quality is the name of the game at Leura Park Estate, and many of their wines are award winning, as an example the 2012 Shiraz won a Trophy for best Shiraz in the show and even I can assure that it was deserving. Another superb wine to try for all you lovers of fine sparkling wine is the Leura Park Estate – Sparkling Blanc de Blanc, this exquisite style of sparkling wine is loaded with flavour and is deep on the complexity scale! Lastly and not always available for tasting, but the Block1 Chardonnay is top shelf wine all the way!
With a touch under 16 hectares under vine and specialising in Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Sparkling, Shiraz and Pinot Gris you can visit here knowing that you are going to find some fine wine indeed. The easily accessible Leura Park is often a favourite stop, and the feedback is always positive.
There are two tiers of wine to explore, the Nine yards and counting starting out at $18, up from that and mostly what this winery is all about is the Leura Park Estate range starting at $22.
Keep in mind the Sunday Funday theme; there is always live music year round so try not to get too carried away in the fun that you can have here.
